Colour My Dreams

"Two Cents"

submission: Colour My Dreams
date: November 8, 2009

I like the style of your work, and always have since the first of the Colour My series.

This one falls a bit short of the others I think. In specific areas though.

In the area of ingenuity you've really stepped it up. No challenge is needed to make this game exciting when there's so much to explore!

However, the game is definitely shorter in comparison to the other two, and although the music is suiting, it doesn't suit the final atmosphere of the game. Maybe two tracks would have made the finale express that much more.

Still, this and the series as a whole has made you my favorite author here, especially since you understand a fair amount about black, white, greys and colors.

There still seems to be something missing in your over all message, as in your color hasn't reached all of the blackest corners of the world.

But anyway, that's just my two cents.

7MD - Broken

"Ringing"

submission: 7MD - Broken
date: December 19, 2009

You've certainly got a lot going on here. A lot of the work is due to that pleasant ringing noise you have in the background. The drums are also pushing the beat into the listener's ears, pounding in that gothic melody.

Reminds me a fair amount of Clockwork. It must be that ringing ringing ringing aaaaaaaaaaa and it's very nice. I like the rhythm you've chosen here, although I don't think it's the best pattern you have ever come up with.

I don't have too much else I can say either because, unlike your past work, I don't think you mix it up quite as much as you have in the past. However, it is still quite an enjoyable piece, so please keep up the work.

Vibestyler - Bjällerklang

"Glad to hear you're back"

date: November 18, 2009

I've always really loved your work, and I'm glad you chose to bring it back in this style, because this song is jammin'.

Oh yeah, this is a really great melod you've choosen here. It feels somewhat foreign, and adventurous, and your choice of sounds makes it very acidic. This will always be cool to listen to, breaking generations I think.

And keeping the beat going by bringing it down with a classical ensemble is a neat idea. It was a nice flow and it sets the listener up for more with an easy on the ears transition.

As always you choose some great sound effects and mix and max with some really fun four to the floor beats. Thanks for bringing your work to my attention by being the great musician you are.

Keep on with the thing. Internet high five, and all that other crazy lingo the kids use today.

"Nice work thus far"

submission: /Air\

Although, despite it being good you shouldn't just rely on the middle to save the rest of the song.

You have some very creative ideas going on in your piece here. It is a bit slow but it all meshes together fairly well. The first harmonic loop doesn't bode so well with me, but when you get the main melody up and jumping, I'm up and jumping with it.

So it is going rather well although a bit repetetive. Then near the end the melody settles down and allows the drums to take main control, which isn't bad since I'm digging the acoustic echoes you are using. However, I think you could have done more before handing it all over to the beat. It was a popping melody, pretty good I must say, and it's a shame it ended so early in the song. It just doesn't have the same impact anymore after the middle part.

You make up for that more or less with the drum patterns you use, which are pretty rad. However, the end feels a bit weak, as in it leaves me without wanting more. A great song generally makes you listen to it 30 or 40 times.
